 Jim Dickinson, West Branch Manager
After earning a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Marquette University, I spent my early career as Professional Counselor and Clinical Social Worker. This was fulfilling work and I gradually progressed into positions of greater responsibility as a Clinical Coordinator and Administrative Director in community mental health clinics. It was during this time spent as an executive that I developed an interest in the business side of things. In 2001, this passion led me to take my career in an entrepreneurial direction – I became a Realtor and joined the Stark Company, focusing my business primarily in residential sales. I chose the Stark Company based on its strong community orientation and reputation for unparalleled customer service. After spending 8 years as a sales associate at the Stark West Office, I took helm as Branch Manager in December of 2008.

While I was originally from Wisconsin, I started in real estate in 1987 in Iowa City, Iowa. I was looking to buy a house and thought that if I were a Realtor I could find the best house for the money. And I was right. But I also discovered that I really liked the business. I did not have a sales background. Instead, I came from an in-patient psychiatry, social work job in an area hospital, but my broker was patient and offered a good training program. I started at the bottom and worked my way up. In addition to selling, I took over the training program and coached dozens of agents in to the business. In 1988, I became an owner of the company. In 1990, we moved to Madison where I managed an office and taught agents about real estate sales. I have given up selling so that I can devote my time to my agents. I have trained over 700 agents in the past 22 years. I pride myself on their success.
