Around Madison the fun doesn't stop when the holidays are over. Keep the excitement going into the new year at these festive events. 

  • GJ Barrel-Aged Weekend - Giant Jones Brewing Company, 931 E. Main St., Suite 9, Madison, WI 53703
    Join your friends at Giant Jones Brewing Company as they break open their BA Strong Ale during GJ Barrel-Aged Weekend. In addition to two regular barrel-aged beers, the certified organic craft brewery is introducing a special "Draft-Only" barrel-aged beer. Jessica Jones, one-half of the female ownership team, will be on hand to lead guided flights and share insights about the brewing process. Guests are welcome to bring food or get delivery from nearby restaurants. Mark your calendar for Friday, 1/10 or Saturday, 1/11 from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m.

  • Beethoven x3 - Overture Center, 201 State St., Madison, WI 53703
    It's said that good things come in threes, so why not start the new year with a triple dose of one of the world's most iconic composers? With Beethoven x3, the Madison Symphony Orchestra is performing a triad of the composer's beloved masterworks, all composed within a span of three years. In keeping with the theme, one of the selections is "Leonore Overture No. 3," while "Triple Concerto" will be performed by a trio of piano, violin, and cello. Beethoven x3 is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on 1/17 & 1/18 and 2:30 p.m. on 1/19. Tickets run from $15-$102.

  • Top of the World: A Carpenters Tribute - Middleton Performing Arts Center, 2100 Bristol St., Middleton, WI 52562
    The brother-and-sister duo known as the Carpenters dominated the airwaves in the 1970s, and their musical legacy lives on to this day. Top of the World: A Carpenters Tribute honors Karen and Richard with faithful renditions of their timeless hits. Lead singer Debbie Taylor and her backing band perform classics such as "Close to You," "Rainy Days and Mondays," and the title tune. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, 1/25. Ticket prices are $45 for adults and $10 for students.

  • Lunar New Year - Lisa Link Peace Park, 452 State St., Madison, WI 53703
    Expand your cultural horizons by participating in the Lunar New Year celebration in downtown Madison. 2025 is designated as the Year of the Snake in the Chinese lunar calendar. The Zhong Yi Kung Fu Association will observe the holiday with a traditional Chinese lion dance, filled with skillful acrobatics, that's designed to ward off evil spirits. After the performance, the "lion" will make its way to various storefronts along State Street to bestow blessings for luck and prosperity. The ceremony begins at noon on Saturday, 2/8.

  • Dane County Dairy Kings vs. Portage Lake Pioneers - Verona Ice Arena, 451 E. Verona Ave., Verona, WI 53593
    The years come and go, but hockey remains as popular as ever. Cheer for the latest entry on the local hockey scene when the Dane County Dairy Kings take on the Portage Lake Pioneers. Formed in 2024, the Dairy Kings compete in the Great Lakes Hockey League as an amateur Senior A team. The name and logo were chosen to pay tribute to Dane County's agricultural tradition with emphasis on our state's world-famous dairy industry. Be there when the puck drops at 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 11. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for ages 5-12, kids under 5 are free.
