Madison Disc Golf

It's getting warmer outside, and if you're a fan of disc golf, that can only mean one thing: it's time to get out there! If you are new to the area or are still looking at Madison homes for sale, I have some good news. Madison has a lot to offer disc golf enthusiasts of all skill levels. Here are a few of the best courses I recommend visiting this spring or summer.

  • Elver Park: 1250 McKenna Blvd., Madison, WI 53715
Elver Park is the largest community park in Madison, spanning a total of about 250 acres. The park has a full, 18-hole disc golf course with concrete tees. Dogs are allowed, although they need to be kept on a leash. Every hole has dual baskets. There's a good mixture of grasslands and wooded spots across the course.

This course charges a $7 fee for daily use. You can also buy an annual membership for $45. Discounts are available for seniors and veterans. In addition to the disc golf course, Elver Park has an inclusive playground, a splash pad, restrooms, and tennis courts.

  • Hiestand Park: 4301 Milwaukee St., Madison, WI 53715
Hiestand Park is a 45-acre public park with a bike path, picnic shelter, athletic fields, and a disc golf course. The course is set among rolling hills, so there is ample elevation change from hole to hole. There are two baskets at every hole, and leashed dogs are allowed.

A daily or yearly permit fee is required to use the disc golf course at Hiestand Park. If the parking lot off Milwaukee Rd. is full, there is another entrance on Wittwer Rd.

  • McFarland Disc Golf Course: Hidden Farm Rd., McFarland, WI 53558
McFarland Disc Golf Course is located within Orchard Hill Park. It's a 9-hole course that meets PDGA standards. There's plenty of grassland between the holes and a few wooded areas. You need a daily permit to play, but the fee is only $5 per person. You can complete the permit form at the on-site kiosk. Cash and checks are accepted.

McFarland Disc Golf Course provides scorecards on-site. The course is open daily from 6:00 am - 10:00 pm in the spring, summer, and fall.

  • Nine Springs Golf and Disc Course: 2201 Traceway Dr., Fitchburg, WI 53713
Just south of Madison, you'll find Nine Springs Golf and Disc Course. In addition to a 9-hole golf course, there is an 18-hole disc golf course. Each basket presents a new and different challenge, so be prepared to take your time.

There is a $5 fee to use this course on weekdays. On weekends, the fee is $8 per person. This course has lovely views, and there is always plenty of parking.

  • MadMando Discs: 6710 Raymond Rd., Madison, WI 53719
MadMando Discs is not a disc golf course, but it is a place worth visiting if you love disc golf. This disc golf shop is within walking distance from the Elver Park disc golf course. They sell discs, apparel, gloves, and more.

MadMando Discs is the perfect place to pick up a carrying bag or a few practice discs. They're always adding new items to their selection.

Whether you've been playing disc golf for years or want to try the game for the first time, Madison is a great place to be. Get in touch and I'll help you find the perfect spot near your favorite outdoor amenities.
